The Fowler, Ka Po’e Kawili Manu, literally meaning “people who ensured birds” help one of the most respected positions in the past….It is known that they wore the “ahuua”, rain cape, with was made of ti leaves tied to a mesh netting, to ward off the misty rain and the chill of the mornings spent in the dense forests of the past….March was the month for the bird-catchers, and they caught the birds in their shelters before they had fully feathered.
