NA ALI'I SERIES / KE'EAUMOKU EDITION SNAPBACK HAT

NA ALI'I SERIES / KE'EAUMOKU EDITION SNAPBACK HAT

$55.00

A 6-panel, flat brim, standard-sized Snapback hat made of 100% cotton and designed entirely on the island of Molokai. Every graphic on this piece was hand-drawn first before being taken to the computer and turned into a graphic.

  • An Olive green hat with Olive embroidery. The front panels have my Ali’i graphic with the mahiole (helmet) in 3D-puff embroidery while the profile is in flat embroidery.

  • The right panel has the Kingdom of HI crest from the coat of arm, the left panel, as always has the Kava Roots logo and the back panel has Na Ali’i embroidered in black.

  • Under the bill is an original piece of Ke’eaumoku made by Stephen Koa Kakaio. Ke’eaumoku was the father of Queen Ka’ahumanu and he was also known as “Papa’i a ahiahi” or the evening/yellow-backed crab. The cape or Ahu’ula that he is wearing is named Eheukani and this is on record to have belonged to him. Not only was this knowledge passed down with the cape but it was also confirmed to be huis because of the seven spear holes on its left side. The facial reference I used is from a person today who is descended from this chief and I have been using this reference for years. Some faces just speak to me and I feel the similarities are too strong to ignore.

Everything from the interior of the hat, the art, graphics, woven labels, tags, sticker and packaging were designed by the artist. Each hat is also personally inspected, stamped and numbered before being packaged and shipped to each customer.
